Your image
It never leaves your device. Fit reads the file you choose straight into your browser, draws the crop on a canvas there, and makes the finished file in memory on your own machine. There is no upload, no server that sees the picture, no database and no account. Nothing is written to your browser’s storage either, so closing the tab is the end of it.
That covers everything the file carries with it: the filename, the pixels, and any EXIF the camera wrote into it, including the location of the photograph. None of it is sent anywhere, and none of it reaches us.
One consequence worth knowing: because Fit redraws the image rather than editing your file, the file you download carries none of the original’s metadata. The EXIF goes, including the camera, the date and the location, and so does any embedded colour profile. The first is usually what you want before an image goes public. The second occasionally is not: a photograph saved in a wide colour space can come back looking a little flatter, so if colour matters, compare the two before you use it.
A share link carries the requirements and nothing else: the label, the pixel size, the format, the size limit and the quality. There is no way to put an image into a Fit link, and that is deliberate.
Measurement
Fit counts visits with Vercel Web Analytics. It sets no cookies and no storage of any kind, and it has no identifier for you: a visit is counted against a hash of the request that is thrown away within the day, so we cannot tell a returning visitor from a new one, and we cannot follow anyone between our tools. Everything after the page’s path is removed before a visit is reported.
Eight things that happen in the tool are counted, and what travels with each one is decided in a single file that no other part of the tool can get past. An image being opened is counted with its format and two wide bands - roughly how many megapixels, roughly how many kilobytes - and never the dimensions, because an exact pair of numbers is a description of somebody’s work. A download is counted with its format, or with how many files were in the ZIP. Everything else is counted as having happened, with nothing attached. No filename, no pixels, no EXIF, no label you typed, and no crop position.
Your IP address reaches Vercel, who host Fit, as part of any request to any website, and is used for the approximate country in the visit count. We do not store it.

Fit is made by Digitopia Design Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, number 12037302, registered office 124 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX, trading as Digitopia Labs. Our ICO registration is ZC160761.
We count visits on the basis of our legitimate interest in knowing which parts of the tool get used. The counting is done by Vercel, so it goes no further than the company already serving you the page. Vercel is a US company, so that processing happens outside the UK under the standard contractual clauses in their data processing terms.
You can ask for a copy of anything held about you (which should be nothing), ask for it to be erased, or object to the counting altogether, at hello@digitopiadesign.com. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
